Getting started

How to reach us

Tell us what the door is doing and roughly where you are - that is enough to know whether it is a same-visit fix or something that needs a part ordered first.

Use the request form if it’s easier than talking.

  3. 3

    We diagnose on site

  4. 4

    You approve the plan

You hear what failed and what it takes to fix it - the work starts only after that.

Straight Answers

Call 989-263-8243 and you'll get someone who can talk through what's wrong with your door before a truck ever leaves the shop. A snapped cable, a spring that let go on a cold morning, an opener that runs but won't lift the door past two feet - tell us what you're seeing and we can usually tell you what it is before we hang up.

We work out of 916 Washington Ave in Bay City, and that's also where you can come in person if you'd rather talk face to face than over the phone. Most of the houses we work on went up between 1952 and 1994, with a lot of that stock dating to the 1960s and 70s across the dozen or so neighborhoods we cover - which matters because a door from that era often needs parts a newer system doesn't use. Telling us the age of your house, or just what the door looks like, saves a wasted trip.

We don't promise a same-day fix on every call, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. What we can tell you up front is whether your problem sounds like a quick fix, a parts order, or something where replacement makes more sense than repair.

What We Do Not Take On

  1. We work on residential garage doors - springs, openers, tracks, cables, rollers, panels

We don't do commercial overhead doors, gate systems, or fencing, and we won't pretend those calls are the same job with a different name on it. Winters here are cold enough that we see a steady run of broken torsion springs once temperatures drop and stay down, and that kind of repair is squarely what we do. What we don't do is guess at a quote over the phone for a door we haven't seen.

  2. If your opener is grinding, your track is bent, or a panel's been dented by a backed-in car

We can talk through likely causes, but a real number comes after someone's looked at it. We also won't tell you a 1960s door with worn-out hardware is worth sinking more money into if a straight replacement will cost less over time. That's not us trying to upsell - it's the opposite. Sometimes the honest answer is that repair isn't worth it anymore, and we'll say so instead of running up a bill.

Contacting Us

Phone is the fastest way to reach us: 989-263-8243. If you're closer to Essexville, which sits about three miles from our shop on Washington Ave, or out toward Zilwaukee, Kawkawlin, or Auburn, let us know your location when you call so we can plan the route.

Our address is 916 Washington Ave, Bay City, MI 48708, and you're welcome to stop in if you'd rather describe the problem in person or drop off a part for us to look at. We serve households across the Bay City area, including the stretch out toward Buena Vista, Freeland, Reese, Fraser, Shields, Bridgeport, Pinconning, and Frankenmuth - if you're not sure whether your address falls in range, just ask when you call.

We don't run a 24-hour dispatch line, so if it's the middle of the night, leave a message and we'll get back to you when the shop opens. For anything that can wait until morning, calling during business hours gets you a faster answer than any form on this site.

Questions

Frequently asked

Straight answers about garage door repair in Bay City. Still unsure? Ask us directly.

Do you work on the original one-piece doors still on some older Bay City houses?

Yes. A lot of houses in this area built in the 1960s and 70s still have their original one-piece or early sectional doors on side-mount torsion hardware. We work on that hardware regularly since it's common across the service area, though replacement parts sometimes need to be ordered rather than pulled off the truck.

Why does my spring keep breaking in winter?

Cold makes steel more brittle and grease stiffer, which puts extra strain on a spring that's already near the end of its wind count. In a severe-cold climate like this one, a spring that's been fine all summer can snap on the first hard freeze because the metal simply has less flex left in it.

How far from Bay City do you go?

We cover Bay City and the surrounding towns, including Essexville, Kawkawlin, Zilwaukee, Auburn, Buena Vista, Freeland, Reese, Fraser, Shields, Bridgeport, Pinconning, and Frankenmuth, ranging from three to nineteen miles out. If you're unsure whether your address is in range, call and ask before you book.

Is it worth repairing an old door instead of replacing it?

Sometimes. It depends on what's actually failed. If it's a spring or a cable on a door that's otherwise sound, repair usually makes sense. If the track, rollers, and opener are all failing on a door that's decades old, we'll tell you plainly when a repair is just delaying a replacement you'll need soon anyway.
